I'm trying to get some plans out before i buy another mustang. I'm going to try to find a decent 94/95 GT for 4500 or less. After that i'm going to have 1000 to spend on the engine/performance. But i know i want to deffinatly start off with the exhaust. I want it to be loud but not annoyingly loud. So heres my first question, which exhaust in yall's opinion is the best sounding. I know there are quite a few to chose from. And does it sonud better with or without an X pipe instead of the H. Next That should leave me 700-800 dollers. So where would yall start next? Pulleys? Chip? Intake? Rear end?

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

You are gonna get lots of answers but my exhaust wasn't expensive at all. I have a summit h-pipe, 2 chamber flows, stock cat-back, and $139 shorty headers. This car sounds MEAN! It sounds just like the car on the movie bullet. To me it is a little loud on take off so I might change the 2 chamber flows to 3 chamber, not sure yet. But I am not 18 no more so may not be lpoud enough for some, lol.

if you don't mind spending a little more cash, look into the bassani stuff...it's definitely top notch and fits together like a dream with real good quality clamps and mounting stuff. quality parts from them for sure - especially if you're keeping your cats, and even if you're not.

well, any aftermarket midpipe is going to sound was louder than stock... mufflers/catback is personal preference. you can just buy the mufflers too and maybe some tailpipes and not the whole catback system if you wanted

you can check out the website for some soundclips

I just bought the slp loudmouth from LMPerformance.com for $450 shipped!! It's all stainless steel with resonators and 3 1/2" rolled polished tips. Real nice quality. I can't wait to put it on monday. Anyone else have this system with the stock h? Just looking to get an idea of what to expect.

I second that!! The Bassani stuff is worth the money without question. As far as the sound of the mufflers that is gonna be your own personal preferance. I know there are some sites that have sound clips of different cars with different exhaust set-ups. I believe there is one dedicated to Mustang exhaust. You might look around and see if you can find it.

I'm running the Bassani ceramic coated headers with the SS catted X - around 900 shipped but worth it. As for catback I'm running side exhaust (Borla) but any catback will sound awesome with those 2.

Check the FAQ sheet too for user combos and what not.

I might have read your post wrong, but if you think your going to do a full exhaust for $200-$300 you might be a little shy of what it will really cost. I have 1 5/8" LTs to a custom H (which if you like the old school muscle sound it's the way to go, the X is for a new age type V8 sound), with Flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber mufflers to 2 1/2" SS tips. Sounds fantastic, especially when it idles down to about 750 and at WOT.

Well out of the borla, bassani, and flowmaster (american thunder), which full exhaust kit do yall think would add the most horsepower and how much would a full kit run?
