Hi,

I just installed the track heat top end kit for a 90 mustang 5.0. It also has shorties, no cat h pipe, flowmasters, pullies the usual stuff. It has 2.73's for grears now. I also have a NOS install i am working on and planning on running 11.5's in the quarter. I guess my question is what would be my best gear for this combo? I hear the top end kit makes power to about 5500-5700? And I would need to achieve a 118-124 trap speed. Mathematicly would 3.73's be the right gear choice or something steeper??
oh and i have the 26*10.5 MT et streets

so the other question is i think 3.73's is great to the top of fourth, now 4.56's rings me to near the top of fifth how bad is it to have to shift into 5th while racing????

thanks, your thoughts??

V

5th gear is overdrive, not for racing.

4.30's will get you to about 6300rpms thru the traps with the 26'' tire.

I'd say stick with the 3.73's for now

Your going to need a big shot to hit 11.5s with that combo...

yeah you dont wanna use 5th gear. I have 3.73s on my setup. Love em. had 4.10s they were way to much gear. I have my rev limiter set at 5500 because of a lean condition, so im basically coasting in after the 1000ft mark and Im still running 11.9 at 123.

3.73s should be good, if it ends up being too much and you redline 4th before the 1320 you could go to a 27 or 28 inch tire to solve that
