Am I best off just getting the stock replacement or is there another balancer that is better? Car has cobra upper lower, edelbrock performer heads, and x303 cam.

By stock replacement I mean this one. My engine shakes a lot at idle and I always thought it was the mounts but I’m starting to think it could be the harmonic balancer.

Really? I guess I’ll see if the mounts fixes it and then go from there. I’m dropping the car off at the shop tomorrow. If anything I’ll try the balancer after it’s not too expensive and I can do it myself.I've never heard of a harmonic balancer cause an engine to shake but

They do if the outer balancer slips on the rubber. It commonly happens on original balancers where the rubber insulator breaks down. Throws off the timing and causes vibration

Ok nice good to know. That install isn’t too bad right you just pull out the old one and pop in a new one? Or is there anything tricky I should know about?

I mean that if you disconnect an A/C fitting that the coolant will come shooting out of it. That just leaves you with more [stuff] to do. Try to avoid cracking any A/C fittings loose (i.e. condenser/evaporator).
Really nothing wrong with a stock ford replacement. Although I do like the powerbond balancers though since the numbers are a lot easier to see, for not a whole lot more money.

When I purchased my new front balancer there was alot of positive talk about about the Bond brand, which is what I purchased... Very pleased when I got it, seems like a quality item.... I " think " i got mine from Amazon........

Been using Romac or dayco/ power bond sfi units....depends on what I find cheaper at the time... Just replaced a pro products with a dayco since the painted timing marks where gone on it.
I've seen in person.
It's pretty awful and damaging to the engine.
It can be way more than a vibration.
