1990 Mustang GT - Kenne Bell 2.1 with 7 psi boost, 1.7 cobra rockers, venom performance module. Heads are E7 ported
Stock head gaskets went south. Measured heads with my striaghtedge and found about .007" warpage ... machinist neasured it and found .005" warpage (I must be off a bit). Both heads have been planed and new springs and retainers have been installed and a 3 angle valve job perfromed by the machine shop. I checked the block with my straightedge and am getting .002"-.003" with the feeler gauges but I am not able to get a good reading on the block do to an inability to get on it completely perpendicular. So, I'm either seeing about .002"-.003" or it could be close to dead on flat. So, the question becomes what head gaskets can I use so that I do not have to go back and do this job again??? I think they were off a bit from the factory and the supercharger just caused them to let loose.
All have researched so many gaskets I am just tired of reading so much BS about each. I think a Fel Pro MLS would be ideal but am concerned about sealing or leaks due to possibly being up to .002-.003" off on the block and the RA that is supposed to be less than 50. I think Ford put graphite gaskets on it when it was new so not sure if I should go this route. I have heard the 1011-2 are okay with mixed reviews as well as the 9333PT1's. Ford racing has two gaskets but the they suggest for their own blown vehicles appears to be the graphite gasket which I think was installed on my car when it was new.
Just want to put the best gasket on here that will not BLOW or LEAK, and SEAL with this boosted application. Thus, I do not want to do this job again especially in the middle of the Summer when I should be driving and enjoying this car. Good suggestions from thorough expereince would greatly be appreciated!!! Thank you!!!
