I've been slowly building a 393 one part at a tme for awhile now. I'm ready for heads and have found a place that has 215cc and 230cc heads for the same price. Both are 64cc chamber, 2.05/1.60 valves, .675 max lift.
I've got a Weiand Stealth intake, TRW flat top pistons, 585/612 lift cam and planning a Holley 850 carb.
I'd appriciate any experianced opinions and ideas as to which of these two heads to go with.

If it is going to be a non power adder car taht is going to see alot of street duty there is really no reason to run a 230 cfm head on that 393. A motor like that needs to breathe but without a blower or turbo to force the issue air velocity is key. I would run a head in the 185 to 205 range, your camshaft and intake are rather conservative. Also watch your valve size I assume your using 2482 pistons forged trw's they don't have the biggest valve reliefs. AFR 185 cnc in a 58 cc chamber. What is your duration at .050 ? Can you say torque monster!

AFR 185's

Looking at your combo - it is not much different than the one I am planning as a future project, and from my research the AFR 185's, are perhaps the best all around you can find. They are CNC ported, and outperform most others across the board in terms of torque and HP. Really a phenomenal head - if you are not all out race (go 205's or 225's then) the 185's are hard to beat!
