Which type of O/R mid pipe H or X is better for performance? I heard that the X is better. Is there really a noticable difference in power between the two? I am thinking about getting an H because I heard it has a deeper sound than the X pipes. My other question is does brand really matter when it comes to off road pipes other than if it is stainless steel or HTs coated.

No noticeable difference in power. Go with what sounds better. MRT makes the best H pipe to me concerning quality.

BBK X is the worst sounding pipe I have EVER heard period. I don't understand how they sell those.

Are there any other brands I should stay away from besides BBK. I plan on getting a Magnaflow or Magnapack cat back.

They actually sound really good on cobra's. For anybody who goes on SVTperformance.com and knows who Predator03 is, he has one of the meanest most aggressive sounding exhausts he has a BBK O/R X with a MAC catback. But then again thats just IMHO.

X pipe for best performance but if you like a deep rumble get the h and make up the 2 to 5 hp loss somewhere else

i place a vote for the SLP X-Pipe, its modular so you can change between catted and O/R, and i sounds bad azz with Flows

if you want to go this route - get full length headers and a short mid-pipe.

i'd pass on a mid-pipe swap your planning.

I'd agree - my second choice was the SLP catted, modular X. I really like the idea of being able to remove the cats, but I knew the H would give me the sound I wanted, so I went with the MRT H. Awesome quality - No regrets.

I have a MAC offroad H. Awesome sound with my magnapack catback, good quality (fit perfectly) and was cheap too!

An X pipe will give more power in higher rpms than an h-pipe. X-pipes work by crossing the exhuast pulses to increase velocity in the center of the pipes. This increases flow by a bit, hence, how they make more power. However, an h-pipe is better for low end power, as it does not reduce back pressure by as much as an x-pipe. As for the power difference being noticeable, not too much. H-pipes are deeper sounding than x-pipes, but x-pipes produce a higher pitched "rasp" sound. As for quality differences in Stainless steel and HTS coating, an hts coated product will not last as long as something that is stanless steel. When you reffer to "HTS" coating, I automatically think of Mac performance, as they're the only ones I know that HTS coats their products. I like the power and fitment of Mac performance products. However, the rust becomes an issue in time. If I had it to do over again, I'de probably go with Bassani, Borla, Magnaflow, or SLP. They are better quality than Mac IMHO, but more expensive none the less.
