Best mod for under $425..?

considering your in winnipeg, finding good deals on mustang parts will be pretty hard.

you might find the odd ball sweet deals but thats rare.

-dont bother with headers
-make your own subframes
-cheap underdrives
-you should do gears
-1.7 rockers

Excluding Juice :nono:

No other one mod is gonna give as large of a performance gain you will feel as gears :nice:

As a matter of fact, gears will make a much greater difference than ........
several other typical mods you see peeps do all the time

Do you have a concern about that mod

Now ... Excuding Gears

And considering you are still close to stock ..............

Lets talk Exhaust
and
Lets exclude sound and talk performance

You could change out the entire system and won't gain a lot :(
The biggest bang for the buck here is the oem 4 cat mid pipe :)
The pipe will give more than headers or catback :nice:

Intake is good for a nice gain ... TFS, Edel, oem Cobra

Mods that give bad gains for the money spent IMHO :bang:

TB
Maf
Rockers
Catbacks
Ignition Systems
Off the shelf pcm chips

I got a small gain I could feel when temps were cool with my CAI :)
It was a great gain for the buck spent as it was home made ;)

My pulleys gave me a nice torque gain ALL across the rpm band :D

HEY ...........The wisest thing you could do IMHO is ........
think about how you want to improve your Stang
and
come back later for more specific answers
by
giving more specific Q's :nice:

As you can see ..............
I gave you answers which pertain to making more performance

A shifter is great :nice:
but
It don't make any power :notnice:

See what I mean about being specific :rlaugh:

Given your mods and excluding gears (which would be my first suggestion too), you could do the headers to finish out your exhaust. But that won't do anything for you other than finish it out.

Best advice I can suggest is, do your shift work. Short throw if you have a T5, or shift kit and torque converter if you are auto. That and subframes. These will give you the biggest smile for the buck (from a performance end). After that, I'd say you need to start thinking of your next 3 to 4 mods, and where you want to go, because pretty soon you will need to crack into that motor if you want significant gains.

If your into 'perty stuff, then look into that, but I can't help you there.

well if your going to do gears it will cost you about 400 bucks ...if your in there doing gears your going to want to do seals and bearing, plus you will want to rebuild the trac unit, and put in some really good gear lube, and ford motorsports friction modifier... if your in there you want to do it complete i recomomend a rear support cover too they are stronger then a plain old diff. cover and they make it nice since they have built in drain and fill holes.

....i always say build the platform first to make the power...you got to realize we are driving aged cars, address the problems it has first maybe yellowed headlights powers no good if you cant see where your going, build up your suspension, get subframe connectors and for a nice tone a catback and maybe a midpipe.

but if you want a performance mod and a bang for the buck feel i would say spray it.

amen brother.

everything you said is what i did. when the gears went in, so did new bearings and a T/A girdle. its a sexy looking piece.

when i did my heads/cam/intake swap, i built it to handle boost. ARP studs, boost friendly headgaskets, good breathing intake, and a Supergulp fuel pump LOL

just now i'm adding more to the suspension
