hey guys a friend of mine is trying to find a muffler for his 2.3 liter mustang that will sound more like a V6 than a ricer. Any help would be appreciated. PS I posted this thread on the non-tech thread as well by mistake in case any one was wondering. Thanks a lot!

I have a Dynomax Super Turbo, it sounds pretty ricey on mine, so I wouldn't buy another one. Red's Flowmasters sound pretty nice. There's a link to a sound clip somewhere on this site and another.

My Super Turbos don't sound ricey at all. Quiet at idle but louder with some rpms, and lots of nice popping on decel.

I wonder how different they sound since you have 2. Mine has a nice idle, but my brother says everyime he hears it he expects a rice burner to come down the street, then it's me. I have the popping too, and I personally don't like it at all.

Any muffler on the 2.3 will not sound like a ricer...big bore 4 cylinders don't sound like ricers...

A guy on a daytona site I used to goto said that he took a glasspack tube muffler and ran it backwards which gave a nice mellow rumble w/o the popping on decel... however this was opn a 3.0 v-6.....

i got duel flowmaster 40 series on my svo and at the exhaust pipe almost same tone as a 5.0, under acceleration sounds great. However decel from about 3500 down sets car alarms off.

lol my exhaust never used to pop until I got the 5-spd....I'm lovin' it.

I highly recommend the Dynomax Super Turbos, but I couldn't tell ya how they would sound with just one.....

I could, once I video it and learn how to get it on my computer and have it hosted ... probably not til mid May. I don't think it sounds that great, but I only hear it inside the car, so maybe it sounds a little better outside.

Flowmaster 40 series...... With a cam and such it'll sound nice, My turbocoupe sounds like it has an old school mopar block in it and yes i have made car alarms go off downshifting and scared mountain bike people off the side of the road. i highly recommand it, might not sound as loud on your car but when you get some mods like in my sig it'll sound nasty

Which 40series delta flow or the original flows or is there really any kind of difference between the two besides interior resonance?

how loud is the Hush? I want a tone, but without the excessive noise and backpressure.

usually the flowmaster is what most go with. After that the next choice is usually mufflers in the same category, with the cheaper mufflers being next, and glass packs next.

The more you let the motor breath the better it will usually sound. Ricers use 1inch pipe and 2inch bored cylinders.

The Hush Thrush is quiet if you run a tail-pipe. It's loud as @@@@ if you dump it!
