I recently added some parts(66mm pulley, fuel pump, 75mm TB and CAI.) to my 01 Saleen S/C. I now need a tune and I was going to take my car to the nearest dyno-tune shop( 40 miles away). The problem is, after finally getting the guy on the phone, I think he is on some sort of drugs. amnit: Needless to say, I don't trust this guy to go anywhere near my car or try to tune it. My only other option is to go with a mail order tune, so I need to know the best place to get one. I already have a new SCT XCAL 2 that I bought without having a tune preloaded on to it. If anyone has done this before with thier S/C Saleen and can help me out with some info, I would greatly appreciate it.

I recommend only tuning on a Dyno to maximize performance and safety.

I would never trust a mail order tune for a supercharged car. Way too much can go wrong. It would be worth the drive to save your engine. A lot of reputable tuners dont even do mail order tunes for s/c cars. Tim at MPH sent me mine for my N/A but doesnt do them for s/c for a reason.

Never tune a blown car over the phone or through the mail! Not a good idea.

Try JMS Chip & Performance. Those guys over there did the development on the SCT Tuners.
Everyone in this forum will agree that a mail order tune is bad. However, there are ways to get your car tuned over the internet if you can get to a dyno shop and have a laptop/workstation. For example, there were no SCT programmers within 500 miles of my lacation when I began using the SCT stuff. So, this is what I did:

1. Went to the dyno shop and did some runs
2. Immediately e-mailed the results back to JMS
3. They, in return, did some modifications to the tune and e-mailed it right back to me
4. Ran the car on the dyno again and e-mailed my results again

We followed this procedure until we felt confortable with where the car was at.

This is almost like doing some dyno tuning in the sense that the tunes are responding to the current environment conditions in which you are conducting your dyno pulls. This is a good as you're gonna' get without actually taking your car to a shop and getting some dyno tuning done.
