I have some 85-86 seats that you can buy and get reupholstered or you can buy the nicest seats ever made:

Cobra Misanos:

Yeah, I hear ya. I saw them in a featured mustang in 5.0 about a year ago, liked the way they looked so I went on the interweb and saw they sell for $1500 each. Guess I need to re-think my seats.

I'd sooner drop in a plain ol' set of reupholstered GT seats, myself. Anything more than $300 for a pair of seats is too much, IMHO. I mean, jeez, it's foam and cloth/leather wrapped around a friggin' mild steel frame, how much can it possibly cost to make, and how much of that is just pure BS profit-margin markup?

Good seats do make a lot of difference in the driving experience, but one can only do so much to pamper their butt with luxury before it becomes absurd...

I have leather seats from a new cobra('96 I think) in my '93 coupe. They seem pretty good to me.

my favorite seats for a track car would have to be the corbeau forza..they are like $225 and extremely comfortable, only weigh like 16lbs, but are fixed back. corbeau makes some other very affordable seats, i would suggest staying away from the a4, but the cr1 and gt7 were more comfortable than the very similar recaro that was sitting next to it at a local speed shop. http://www.corbeau.com/prod_index/prod_index.shtml

Yeah, I love those Cobra Misano's too. I think I saw them in the same 5.0 magazine feature car your talking about and just fell in love with them, until I jumped online and saw the pirce! IIRC it was a 10 sec silver notch that looked completely stock except Cobra R wheels and tint, it was a sweet car.

I have been wanting to get those Corbeau GTS II seats in leather for a while now, their just too expensive. I love how they look. I stole these pics from a 93 Cobra on eBay a while ago.

I went thru the whole Searching For The Perfect Chair......I realized that those fancy high performace aftermarket seats are only made for small asian people....or they are just not made for a bigger guy.

I ended up buying Black leather seats out of a 2004 stang...they feel great!! they were cheap...$400 for both and bolted right in.

I'm hoping I can save enough bucks to take with me when I drive over for the next WFC and maybe pick up a couple o' late-model OEM seats of some sort. Anyone know if two front seats will fit in the rear seat area if you've got the rear seats removed? (Otherwise, I'll hafta drive over there with just one seat in the whole car. Lots of room for Doritos and Mountain Dew for the drive over... )

I'm not all that big a guy at all - 5'8", 155 lbs. - and my butt feels pinched every time I've sat in any kind of aftermarket seat. Heck, even the stock seats of my buddy's '04 Tiburon GT feel too small for my arse. Plain ol' OEM stocker seats in almost any 'Stang I've planted my butt into feel just right, though ... 'cept the crappy Fox LX/base-trim seats (too bouncy, feels like riding a school bus with buckets).
