I want to add full length subframe connectors to my 90 GT convertible. I am looking at the Steeda's. Any thoughts?

you really dont need anything special.

Just two pieces of steel square tube and a welder.

Im even considering going with solid steel bar stock.

i have seen several different brand names on ebay that are the bolt in type. i am going to buy a set them sand down the mating surfaces and subframe ends and bolt them in, then have them welded in place. you have several brands / types to choose from. given how relatively cheap they are i would go with the heavy duty ones.

i took some 3" channel (steel) and welded two pieces under there. May be a little heavier, but damn if its not stiff. Cost me $0, we have so much spare steel laying around its not even funny.

What do people think of the Steeda sub frame connectors? My car had them when I bought it and they really dont seem like they can do much. They're just a small round tube. My old 87 F-Body's connectors were built from 2x3" tube, that seems more like it to me.

Maximum Motorsports Full length $119 per set unpainted.

Buy some rust inhibitor paint at Sherwin Williams for $8.

I paid $225 installed on a Convertible. 3+ hours of work...

Grind off the old vert brackets, smooth it up, weld the brackets, etc. Paint...

Worth the money if you drive a flimsy Convertible, I now have the confidence to drive into a 7-11 without the car breaking in half.

Second best mod to 3.73 gears.

I have the powdercoated Maximum Motorsports full-length subframe connectors. I could really tell a difference after they were installed. I took them to a local muffler shop at 8am and had the car back at 3pm...they followed the instruction step-by-step and even painted the welds for $100! It was a great investment. Good luck!

I bought the Global West subframes to replace the 3/4's that came with my car. I chose them because a friend of mine has had them on his car for over 10 years with 600+hp combos and doesn't even have a ripple in his quarter panels.

MY D&D motorsport SFCs made a world of difference on my car. $70 for the SFCs and $60 to weld them up, best $130 I've spent on my car.

ebay has the full length maximum motorsports look alikes, they are made by blue oval industries. They look identical to the MM version but for 79 bucks instead of 125 and they come powdercoated. i think thats what i am going with. Just make sure you get the full length ones...those little 3 footers wont do nearly as much for you. and for 80 bucks you cant go wrong.... and weld em in yourself, its free!!

My friends 84 t-top had the Maximum motorsport full lengths and our exhaust shop welded them in for 50$ well worth it. I am running the through the floor sub frames from Wolfe Racecraft...they make a nice set of full lengths also but I would go with any 2"x3" full lengths....

It's easy to get anal with this topic.Unless maybe you autocross I don't believe there is a lot of difference between most of the name brand connectors.Just make sure you get a set.I found the difference after I had mine installed remarkable.
