If you are like most HP junkies you will wear out the rear tires of any given combo first
If you lean towards going around corners fast then the front will go first
the ability to rotate tires now or in the past has great benifits on top of just more (depending on driving habits alot more) miles out of a set, the next biggest benifit of rotating rear to front is every rotation you get whats like a semi-new pair of tires on the front (my cars always drive smother and steer better (less pull) after a rotation, front tires alway wear different then rears perfect allignment or not. *this applies to solid rear axle only
on the other hand, If you have stagered front and rear tires you get the unique costom look, also I know of situations were the rears have been replaced 2 or more times while fronts are fine (these are the burn out guys)
I recommend you buy an extra set of rims for summer, some nice sporty 18" chrome bling and wrap them in BF Goodrich g-Force KDW 2. Since the roads could use some work I'd go with 255-45-18.
I also recommend for winter you keep your stock rims and tires and use them til they wear out. The P-zero is a pretty good all season tire, and works well in the winter. Once they wear out I recommend the Dunlop Winter Sport M3, or the Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport, size 235-55-17. Hope this helps. Good Luck
I have the stock 05 gt rims.. I like them but the 235 suck.. I saw in another post someone has put 255s all around.. but can I get something bigger for the rear and I cant remember the profile.. =-/ I'm poor .. help
The GoodYear Eagle F1 came standard on '03 & '04 Cobras. They wore out quickly and didn't provide much traction (especially in the rear ). I don't recommend them.
Does anyone know of someone with wider then a 295 preferably a 315 in the rear on a 05 with pics?
Ceyko I definately wouldn't attempt to run a 315 on a 9" wide rim, that would be a problem waiting to happen because the rim is way to narrow for that wide a tire it should be at least a 9.5" rim but preferably 10" min. plus I doubt any shop would mount that because it wouldn't be within the tire companies recomendations. I have a buddy whos running 315's and they are on 10" rims on his 04 cobra and working fine.
Gottabered there is no way a 335 is gonna fit under that wheel well no matter what offset you get if it does its gonna be like 1" sticking out at least or your gonna have to tub the rear to get it to fit, i.e major suspension mods, no offence just my 2 cents...
Rally they 285's are gonna need bump stops in the front, steeda makes some and they would be great all around if you like driving any twisties and just for general all around handling plus you can swap easy for tire rotation
I just put Falken Koblenz 19"x9.5s on mine... Fuzion 245\40\19 0n the front & 275\30\19s on the back... with the eibach pro suspension... handles like a fat kid on a smarty....
