So about two weekends ago i started to remove my existing seat platforms to make way for some new custom brackets. As usual, there was more rust than expected and I have decided to pull the floor pan out and replace with a full floor pan. I did this once before with my 68 project car by just taking a hammer and chisel and popping out the spot welds with some occasional help from a grinder.

Any recommendations on how to do it this time around? Is there a more effective way to get the old floor out and weld in the new one? I just want to check to see if there is a better way to do it than I did before. Thanks.

I use a combination of a sawzall, pry bar and a hammer.

A sawz all or Plasma cutter will get the major prts out fast but the spot welds are still a pain.

Air chisels are great on the rocker panel, and anything thicker than the floor itself. Pops them off without tearing the metal you want to keep. A spot weld remover for anything else. Just dig a little, then hit it with the air hammer and it pops right off.

You never want to cut out more than needed, even if it means throwing away half of the new pan. Get the die grinder out and go to work.

air chisel and sawzall are your friends here. A die grinder is good when you cant use a sawzall. Be sure to buy extra blades and discs!
