Do you guys rev it to like 4-5000 rpm then dump the clutch or do you rev her up in neutral then throw her in first and punch it?

Which works better for you?

turn your pedal (right) foot to the right 90 Degrees....so the heel is on the brake and toes on the gas.....mash down the brake pretty good, while getting your rpm's around 3700-4 and dump clutch......slowly let your heel come back toward you when your ready to drive out of it...

That last one works well, but not if you have size 14 shoes I don't think I'll ever be able to heel/toe properly

I have 19 inch shoes, and can definetely do burnouts with the heel & toe technique, I even use 2nd gear so my revs don't go too high...

my mustang is stock btw

i cant do a 2nd gear burnout. only clutch smoke, instead of tire smoke.

I don't mean to intrude on this thread but I tried to pull a burnout today without much luck (I've got an '06 GT). I kept the break down and rev'd it up and slowly let the clutch out but all I got was some clutch smoke (which actually kind of scared the crap out of me lol).

I know this isn't the smartest thing to do in general, but if I want to do it once in a while what am I doing wrong and how bad is that clutch smoking)? Am I holding the break down too hard, not enough gas, could it have anything to do with the larger wheels and tires (I didn't think the 20's should really effect it too much).

Thanks for your help

size 15's ftw. I used to do this in my other 93 and shift from 1st to 3rd gear. the speedometer said I was going 70 but I wasn't moving.

I just drive down the road about 50mph and stab the gas in 3rd gear blowing the tires off until it hits the rev limiter, oops that's in the 89 coupe. My 07 auto won't spin for nothing unless your in water, lol. Hopefully it will come alive after some mods and break in time.
