Better Header?

What is the better header for a 289 automatic v8 (more hp and torque)? The Heddman Long Tube Headers or Tri-y headers.

For that matter what is the best header for my 68 coupe under $200 dollars?

putting tri y's on my 65 was and still is a pain. had to get that bracket thing to lower the arm thing below which has messed up my steering so it doesnt cut as much. also had to jack up the engine 1/2 ro 3/4 inch on both sides so they wouldnt hit the inner fender wells.. after that my fan (6 bladed flex fan) hit the radiator hose! had to trim that thing..so i dont know...

how did you raise the engine? My hedman elites are a little low and its annoying as hell.

either way if you switch to long tubes your probably going to sacrifice some torque for hp. Something like a mid length header would probably be pretty cool. Someone around here has those patriot ones and seems happy with them

pushed up on the oil pan (no flamin please) and put a spacer underneath the motor mount 1/2 inch steel plate

But the price listed now is $535 plus $175 for ceramic coating. Ouch...

what did you use as a spacer? A chunk of steel?

thanks. I was looking at the site, but the price was higher so I didn't think it was the same header.

There were untold numbers of 'generic' fit passenger car headers sold for SBFs over the last 4 decades. More companies made them than I care to list, and they all use the same basic design...
They can be had dirt cheap used, and if they aren't rusted through, they don't wear out.
They ALL require raising car quite high during install, but have good clearance, IMO, without raising the engine.
They will require the cheap little bracket when installed with power steering.

yea, i had a slab of 1/2 inch steel plate lying around cut it off and slid it under there
