have a new project car with a 390. runs good, but after a while when it heats up (idle or driving 10-15 minutes) it just dies. after it cools of a little, it will start back up. I do not know the water or oil temp. but by touch it is no warmer than my other cars. could it be a timing thing?? any thoughts. thanks

I used to get sputter after my 289 would get hot. I was pretty sure it was distributor related. I know i touched the resistor on the dizzy once, and the car wouldnt start. Touched it again, and it started. Just another place to check if nothing else.

Your car runs then dies correct? My experience with vapor lock is it will run untill you turn it off then it won't start untill the engine cools. But hey, thats just what I battled a few years ago untill I rerouted the fuel line to keep it cooler.
