Big Problem Need Help ASAP

Well My car is at my parents house and my dad told me that it started pissing coolant everywhere. He took it to the shop and the guy told him my intake manifold is cracked and leaking. He also said it would cost no less then $1000 to fix. My dad is trying to seal up the crack when im away. Should it really cost this much to replace the intake manifold? Ford did some vacuum line work on it a bit ago do you think they might have caused this problem in any way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Semper Fi

This is a common problem. A new manifold costs $149 and you can easily replace it yourself. There is a sticky that has tehnical threads at the top, its all in there.

Did you hear about the woman that refused to sleep with any Marines? She was rotten to the core... :D

Depends on the build date, he has a 99 so the extended warranty expires sometime this year for his car.

Actually it is seven years from the original sale date, not build date.

9. What if the intake manifold on my Class Vehicle has not failed?
Ford will provide to Settlement Class Members a retroactive extended vehicle warranty to cover fatigue cracks in the all-composite intake manifold Class Vehicles, resulting in coolant leaks at the crossover coolant passage. The coverage for this extended warranty is for seven years from the start date (which means the initial vehicle sale date) without a mileage limitation. Within the covered period, if Settlement Class Members experience this condition, Ford will pay for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury dealer to verify the condition and replace, at no cost to the vehicle owner, any such all-composite intake manifold.

1000 bucks is rediculous. Just buy a new manifold yourself. they are only like 150 bucks or whatever someone previously said in this thread, use the instructions in the sticky and do it yourself. Or take it to another shop that isnt blowing smoke up your ass.
