Just pick a project car and it needs a lot of help starting first with engine! Found a add for a "rare 302 engine" but car has a 289 engine can this be changed with to much hassle? New tranny? motor mounts?
thanks

a 289 and 302 are the same,the only difference is the internals,but a 302 really isnt rare unless its a boss 302.

You can just drop in a 302, although if you are thinking of dropping in an early non-roller 302, I would just keep the 289. Also, I am no expert but I don't know of any 'Rare' 302's besides a Boss motor. Just make sure you check it out.

Depending on what you already know about the car I would first check the VIN and make sure it came with that 289 and if not then verify that if it was once a an I6 swap that it was all done correctly. If not then you may be better off with a whole donor car than just the engine.

Agreed on the "rare" 302 comments as well, be cautios with that seller.
