Biggest tire to fit on 15 inch wheel

Hi new member here I know this question has been asked before but seems like none answer my specific question. i have these wheels

from what its saying it has a 3.75 backspacing most threads I've read talk about much bigger backspacing so simple question whats the biggest tire I can fit on it? I have a 86 gt vert

225/60-15" came stock on the Turbines on my '88 GT vert. I would think that would fit and look great on you '86.

I run Weld Draglites, 15x8 and have 275/60-15 out back (28x10.5). Not sure what the backspacing is on them.

With that shallow of a backspace I wouldn't recommend a wide tire 225/60 should fit but the stock wheel had more backspace.

alright good cause i got some 225/60's just got the car for a deal so now im just waiting till i can get some new wheels. So im guessing 225/60 should have good enough grip for now. Thank alot for helping me out.

I have 255 60 15's on my weld prostar 15x7's. I think they look too tall, I would like a smaller sidewall. If I would go with a smaller sidewall would that change the width of the tire at all?

225's are too thin IMO, at least for the rear. You should be able to fit a 275 max on the rear without having to do any inner fender well work/beating. I run a 275. If I were you, and its just an everyday driver, go with something a tad bit wider. 245-255 maybe.

the problem it backspacing he just needs more to run a wider tire a 5.5 inch BS would be ideal for a 255 tire on that year.

Correct the backspace is too shallow to run any real tire...

ya like i figured i have to shallow of a backspace as much as i would like to fit 255's seems like with the backspace i have its not possible till i get new wheels of course. plus the tires i have on now are 205's so atleast the 225's will be a bit wider for now.

Check out this website, it has a tire size calculator...it's very helpful. I used it before I bought tires for my 96 F350.
