Most of these aftermarket columns are wired with a GM hook-up for the horn and turn signals. A horn relay needs to be added to the system and the wiring adapted into the Ford car wiring harness. Flaming River's column (and I bet Ididit's and any others are the same way), when it is set up for a Ford factory steering wheel has kind of a mickey-mouse adapter for the horn. GM does not use a slip ring setup like ford, there is a plastic piece with a wire that goes through the base of the steering wheel. Holes need to be drilled in the base of the wheel and there are a couple of plastic adapter pieces that don't look too attractive. If you're using one of these columns in conjunction with an aftermarket steering wheel, get the "standard" (GM) column and use a GM adapter kit for the steering wheel.
You have to use the horn adapter stuff that comes with the column. Make sure if you get one that it will work with a FORD steering wheel. Most of the aftermarket ones are set up for GM. the spline where the wheel mounts is different and the horn setup is a LOT different.
My car has a Flaming River brushed aluminum column with tilt,hazard switch and cruise control built in.. I am using a Momo steering wheel.
I went with brushed alum. because my dash abnd glove box door are also brushed alum. Trying to be consistent with the "theme".
The cruise control stalk looks a little out of place with the black plasic controls.
Forgive me but I really wanted cruise.
