Bittersweet - Sold the 65 coupe

Yeah, I did it. I sold it to my good friend Beau, who actually built the engine.

Money has been much tighter since I got out of the AF and moved to Phoenix. I just need the money and can't afford such a crazy car. I do have a killer daily driver that I will post up (you guys won't like it though )

Here are the pics. I will post the final dyno numbers when Beau totally tunes the whole car up. Beau is taking most of the graphics off. Maybe that is a good idea after all.

I hope you are taking advantage of the GI bill. It is one of the few things the military gave me for the civilian world.

Sorry you had to sell the car.

You're not the only one. I got out of the AF in 1972 which is when I had my 1st Mustang, a 65 coupe w/ 289 and three speed stick. I started selling insurance and was driving nearly 100 miles per day which ate up a lot of money, so sold it and bought a 1971 Pinto. I really liked the body style and it was very economical with a 1600 push rod motor and 4 speed stick. Alas, the speed bug hit again and the car went to a speed shop for some work. Still somewhat economical, it was a blast to drive. So much compression that changing head gaskets was a routine! Good luck.

Jan 17 is when I start school on Uncle Sam's dime.

At least I sold the car to my good friend Beau. He is already fixing it up. I guess the head gasket on the right bank needed replacing, and a couple other things.

I will still probably be able to drive the car once in a while.

Nah, we never really do, but I am not upset. I just look at it as a car, nothing more. It was a fun experience learning about and driving the car.

I almost sold mine a few months ago. It sat for months, no bodywork got done, it took up space in my garage. One of my son's friends offered me $4000 for it as it sat in primer and stripped. I have sold 2 others before finishing them, and this one was the first one I ever got to enjoy before starting bodywork, so I decided to keep it. Now it is almost done, the paint is coming out really awesome, and I wish I had kept my 66 that I still had while I started this one. I just didn't think I would live long enough to finish 2 of them.

No I didn't. (I thought I changed my sig to 20K, oh well).

I actually got 12K plus some other stuff, making it worth 15K or so, which I am cool with.

That's more in line with what I thought it was worth. I have never seen a coupe without really rare options go for near that much.
