Black Smoke under hard acceleration

I bought a 95 mustang, has a fireball coil, cold air kit, I done the basic tune-up plugs, cap, rotor, wires, all filters. Car runs fine, but has very little power for a mustang, heistates on hard acceleration and black smokes as well, I have cleaned the MAF and no change, and gas mileage is not to par, so what all should I be checking now?

I've never battled this problem....but just looking at what you've done, have u checked the fuel pressure? Perhaps the regulator is out of whack and the pressure is really high causing more fuel to be injected?


Any check engine lights/error codes? o2 sensors ok?

check your 02's your either running 2 rich or the black is carbon build up

Make sure you have the firing order correct also, then check timing.

when i first bought my 94 stang it had had a motor swap and the guy said it ran great but lacked alot of power. when i got it home frist thing i did was cleaned the maf which you have already done then i cleaned the IAT sensor. Its the lil sensor on your intake boot after that i replaced my 02 senors and my car came to life hope this helps
