I live in Dearborn so i see the 05s on the road quite often, but the other day I saw one that caught my eye. It was black and had no spoiler (all the previous ones i have seen had a spoiler) and i was wondering will there be a spoiler delete on the gts? I couldnt tell whether it was a v6 or gt since it was coming from oncoming traffic, but it looked nice anyway.

Yes, there is a spoiler delete option on the GT.

SPOILER DELETE OPTION (13D)
Availability:
-Optional delete on GT arrays
Includes:
-Deletion of rear spoiler on vehicle
NOTE: Spoiler Delete is a no credit option

Directly from the Ordering Guide. So yes, spoiler delete is an option, and I fully intend on using it.

I was thinking about having the spoiler deleted on mine on slapping on a Cobra R wing. Any thoughts on how this would look?

In Bosnia, maybe it would look hot. Here in the U.S., big honkin spoilers are an OUTgoing fad, at least that's what I'm observing. Do as you please by all means.

Itd be OK but really a stang with the full Cobra R body kit looks much better. I recommend a Saleen S281 wing. Just my opinion.

is it rumour or truth that the spoiler delete option is not available in Canada?
And if it isn't available, can I ask why? (sorry if that's a sily question)

Maybe Canada has ridiculously strict/picky crash test requirements, by which each potential configuration requires a totally separate set of crash tests. For example, maybe by the "letter of their laws" they require pedestrian impact tests/standards for both forward AND reverse motions (or maybe in Canada it's moose impact standards), and the offering of the spoiler delete would cause Ford to have to test and qualify both configurations, with and without rear spoiler. Or maybe their crash tests requirements in general require all new data whenever a significant addition or deletion to the outward body of the car takes place, regardless of how negligible the change may be. Regulations rarely include "common sense" as an arbiter. It sounds absurd at face value, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was some sort of regulatory B.S. that causes Ford to say "screw it", and choose one body config that they figure will be the most popular and only offer it so that they can significantly reduce the expense of goverment certification. Again, pure speculation on my part..... The rear spoiler significantly changes the total height of the rear of the car, which changes everything if Canada is worried about what you run into when you're backing up, or spinning forward where you're tail may be leading the way for that matter. So Ford would just offer the cars one way to keep it simple and cheap. I'm repeating myself

My friends sunflower rolled and the spoiler swung through his back window, if there was anyone in the back seat they would have been decapitated.

PS: There are less moose in Canada then there are dumbass rednecks in the States... its a forum, why throw out cheap shots.

I realise how hard it is to take a spoiler off and reweld/paint the holes, probably 100 dollars to get the dealership to do it. I can see there being additional safety testing required without a spoiler, it really only makes sense, what if its found that the spoiler catches the air in a crash and magically stops the car from rolling... or something as equally stupid and crazy. So basically, every 2005 Mustang in Canada is going to have a spoiler? whethor its v6 or v8? If the v6's don't have spoilers (i can't remember if the v6's are equipped with spoilers or not) then the spoiler delete option should be offered on V8's as well. Just get the dealership to have one transfered from an american dealership to here, make them pay for the safety if its even required. Thats what we did with my moms Explorer.

It doesn't really matter, either way people are going to throw some Boss and Mach stickers all over the V6's and probably a 36' wing and spinner hub caps. The v8's will probably have fake blowers taped to the hood and some coffee cans on the back for exhaust.

Well Hi there from a fellow Reginian
I've never thought of that kind of spoiler being all that functional, and thought it was for looks only (and my personal preference is that I like the clean, no-spoiler look) But you could be right about Canadian safety standards being super-anal about stuff like that, I guess it another reason for me to be glad to live here

I was just curious because to me it seemed silly to offer a spoiler delete option, but only in the states

I'm not saying that the spoiler is "safer", I'm saying that ANY physical change, such as the presence or non-presence of a spoiler, that alters the dimensions or the profile of the car, could potentially require an entirely seperate set of tests and declarations and paperwork. It's no different than the silly fact that if you just change the gear ratio in a car, the whole car has to be re-certified for EPA, which is why U.S. automakers shy away from offering choices of gear ratio.

I thought the moose comment was totally silly and innocuous. If you believe that to be an insulting "cheap shot", good lord......you're easy to rile. Yeah, it's a forum, but my "cheap shot" was the equivalent to joking about a tumbleweed catcher option for Texas Mustangs. I seriously doubt that somebody from Texas would come firing back, "hey mister, that's a cheap shot...sniff, sniff... ". Typically down here in 'da south, it's the dumbass rednecks who are hyper-insecure and overreact at the slightest poke of fun (now THAT'S a cheap shot, just a more subtly cloaked one). I'm sorry about the moose reference. Feel free to joke about alligators, or opossum, or cockroaches, if the redneck jab didn't satisfy enough. A good sense of humor can really help your blood pressure.

I can't believe it's a "No Credit" option....If I bought one I'd say "Take off the spoiler, and put it in the trunk." If I ain't gettin' any sheckles back for it, I want to keep it.

I couldn't agree with you more. How much is the option on the V6 models? We should get either a credit or another option thrown in. As much as everyone says its not a big deal, I really need to know the prices of the options and such. I don't plan on spending much over 27K. There's only a couple of options but there's like 3 interior upgrade things, the mycolor thing, optional 17's, and the shaker stereos. I'll bet that most of them are pretty expensive. The 17in wheel option (16's are standard) was $450 dollars on my GTI. I hope Ford isn't expecting another grand for a wheel that is very similar in size.
