I had this exact problem, it was caused by the plastic tube that goes into the intake being undone, it sucks in air through that hole and so the MAF doesn't see the air, and so the car gets messed up. check your valvecover breather hose, it might of got knocked out or loose, this sounds exactly like the problem where air gets in past the MAF sensor, maybe your plenum is loose after the bolt change and its sucking air in there?! good luck

hmm, that definately seems like that could be part of the issue. Is there any kinda test to do? I don't think its the plenum not being down well because this problem first showed up a week or so after I did the complete exhaust install. Maybe one of the tubes that connect to the CAI has a leak or isn't on there too well?

if that is the problem then why does it only do it for a short period of time after starting the car. I get in the car turn it on, pull out of my driveway, notice it right then, drive a little further and then its fine. Kinda like it works its way out or something. If it was some kinda leak wouldn't it happen more often? I hate this

Well, you can always take it by the dealer and see what they say.

ohh you ran into a tech already that did not want too do your warrenty work.

IAC's can make a strange humming noise when they go bad. i would first look at ALL vacum lines and the seal between the plenum and intake manifold. then i would see if ford will still cover the iac for you.

no.. its not that i've even talked to a tech about it, the ford dealership denied me warranty work before i ever did any mods lol. i'd rather just pay 50 bucks or whatever for a new iac and put it on myself, everything else they've done to the car ive had to go back and fix

As far as the seal between the plenum and intake, there's just that gasket on the intake, right? we checked some hoses and everything looked ok. we're going to get some ether (i think) and do a little test my dad knows. im tired of this

oh.. and no free iac, thought we had one but just gonna buy one
