I just took my 289 block in to have it dipped and prepped for a rebuild. I am having the crank and cam line bored and having the cylinders honed if I can get away with that. What else should I have done to it if anything? I am planning on installing turbos.

New freeze plugs, have them put in cam bearings and you might as well notch the cylinder walls now for that 347 stroker kit I will convince you to put in.

they are putting in the cam bearings and will pull out the old freeze plugs before they dip it. I am still trying to build this thing on some kind of a budget. I am already over what I had originally planned. Some of us don't have as deep of pockets as others.

I went low buck on some of my engine build and picked up some good new forged pistons for my rebuild. Once you have some idea of what you need check out ebay or this corral.com for some good used/new parts at great prices. I purchased my new T56 from a vendor over there and got a smokin deal.

Somehow, to me anyway, this statement and your other about "turbos" just aren't condusive to each other.

I am building the car in house to avoid the vast amount of expense. The only real labor that I planned paying for is the machinist and maybe a tuner to get the car dialed in. I am splurging a little on the engine with the turbo application.

Just upgrade the rod bolts to ARP, put in forged pistons, balance, call it a day. Keep it carbed, non intercooled (less $$) and it will have plenty of sideways power.
