I made a bo bo and had to fix it. Tore some harness wires trying to force a sensor through the grommet for the new wideband. Had to take the blower motor out and co.puter to get enough slack to repair them due to where I broke them. Got it buttoned back up, (kinda, that gromet is jacked now but in place) but I cannot for the life of me get that blower motor to seat back in. Are there any tips and tricks to get it in the right spot. Seems so close but will just not close the last 2 inches or so to get the bolts in. I don't think my air outlet is lined up right or something. And also, my back hurts now.

I just put mine back in recently after taking it out to get to my ECU to send off to ECUexchange. It definitely was a pain to get back in… from what I recall try to push it upward but as far right towards the passenger side of the car, then once up bring it back left towards the drivers side. After fiddling with mine for too long that’s what ultimately worked. Got it lined up to get the bolts started… once there you make minor adjustments without having to hold the entire assembly with one hand. There is some plastic protective sheet with that wool like insulator covering the ECU… that gave me the most trouble it kept getting caught on the blower assembly so I was trying to hold that away from the blower assembly whilst pushing the assembly upward with my other hand all while keeping it as far to the right as possible.

I did mine with the seat in sitting on the scuff plate bending half sideways down in the footwell area. Not comfortable at all but can be done.

Take the seat out.

It is the best advice I can give you.
yup, was trying not to since the car is up on jackstands I was able to kneel next to it but at 6'2" and 250, and 45 yrs old, I think this job needs done laying down:)

I cant believe people recommend this over just wrestling it out. No way it is faster and easyier when you account for getting it backing.

I watched a Youtube video before i took out my ECU and the guy said when you're all said and done it would probably take as much time removing the blower motor to get the ECU out as trying to get the ECU without it. I mean, from my perspective... i just couldn't see any way of getting the ECU out without taking the blower motor out once i was down there looking at it with my own eyes... there is like zero room and i don't want to break anything forcing wires/connectors/panels out of the way. Everything seems so delicate on these old cars.

The other benefit to removing the blower motor (for me at least) was it needed to be resealed with new butyl tape and foam gaskets so i also 'refreshed' that assembly since it was out anyways. If i had to do it all over, i think i would still take the blower assembly out.

It made me laugh because, I was just trying to get to the wires at the gromet and I had the computer out first. I've had the computer out 2x before and never removed the blower box. If you remove the 2 screws on the white plastic hanger, its really easy. My case is not scratched up either.

Well I got it back in, and I did have to take the seat out. Lying down had to push it up with the left hand while threadding the first bolt in with the right. The issue was the harness. I had distrubed it enough that it was no longer bent up into the corner of the firewall for clearance. It was just in the way enough on the back and top side (could not see in any orientation) I had to put a zip tie on it and pull it back into the corner. If I ever do install a Holley term x, I'm gonna have to take the air box out to get that harness out.
