So im thinking of purchasing a blower in the near future so i wanted some input if i wanted a daily driver with around 550 rwhp which supercharger would be the best choice for the money? Thanks for your inputs

I have the Vortech SQ S-trim and a 2.75 and power pipe and I am making 15 pounds on a HCI setup and I put down 540 rwhp and 523 rwtq with a stock bottomend 302

i love vortechs!

i am running a V1 SC trim blower on my mods in sig and making 7-8 psi with the slightly bigger crank pulley than the one supplied.

no dyno numbers or track numbers with the new TFS heads and f-cam yet but i am not pushing near the airflow or power as mustangfan1990 but the car even at a modest 7-8 psi is nuts on the street, frying tires and seems to pull like freight train when i can get traction.

i love my blower but if going vortech i would suggest the S trim to start out, they push more air out of box than the SC trim i have and you get the 8-rib pulleys, the SC trim comes with 6 rib. like i said i love my SC trim and its capabilities are the same as the S but out of box it makes 5 psi which helped out a TON but isnt enough lol, it wasnt long before i threw more boost at it. when a good power gain is just a simple pulley swap away its hard to not do it.

i have a v1 sc too and i love the way it operates but hated the install. it took me 2 weekends to get the oil fittings to stop leaking.

taping the oil pan was very nerve racking too

if i could do it over i would save for a procarger and stick with that.

there is not doubt in my mind that vortech makes quality stuff. their sc will last and last from what i have heard, but the install is a brute!!

Install is a pain but after you do it once you could do it again again and again and it get easier after the first time. I never had any problem with my oil fittings leaking. I had my grandpa (ford mechanic) help with the install so maybe thats why. he is REALLLY good at what he does. I feel better knowing he is there watching me so I dont screw up. Either way s-trims are LOTS of fun and good street blowers

I have a D-1 ProCharger on my 90 and I can tell you that it does make great power, but the install is a complete nightmare. We put a Vortech on my buddies 92 and a custom turbo setup on his 90 and I can tell you that they were both easier than my D1. You may want to look at a turbo setup instead of a supercharger, I am going that route on my 87.

The V1 S trim, or V2 SQ should have no problem getting you to the 550 horses you're looking for, but it's playing with fire on a daily driver. That's block splitting territory, and could leave you without a car if it were to split. I don't have a problem with taking that risk personally, but that's because I have a DD to use. I wouldn't chance it otherwise.

Vortech has that new supercharger (V3) that does not require you to tap that oil pan. The supercharger has an internal oil reservoir.

the novi 2000's are also a great blower, my old setup made 480 to the tires with 10 psi, and that was with just a baseline run, super conservative, the car had no timing and plenty of fuel. i was told it would have made over 500 if the head gasket didnt go.

if you end up making more than 450 rwhp you might as well start saving for a dart block, cause you will definitly need it. what cylinder head, cam and intake are you running? its going to take a well built combo to make 550 at the wheels

edit: you could see clear as day on my main bearings that the caps were all over the place on my old motor, these blocks are junk after 500 hp
