i am putting a 5.0 engine in my 65 coupe with a t5 . I am thinking about buying a vortech superchager for my system. The only thing that i am unsure of is what type of induction to run, I know that efi will be more efficient and all that but will there be any power difference between efi + blower or carb + carb hat + blower. The only reason i ask is because there is about 1500 dollars difference between the efi and carb stuff
It depends on how much power to intend to make, regarding the induction system.
With a 5.0 block, I would not suggest that you go for 600 RWHP, as the block will be stressed to the point of unreliability. Also, second gear in a standard T5, or even a T5Z, will not last that long with alot of power. Anyway,.....
I'm running a blow-through system with a bonnet, and one of the issues I come across is equal fuel distribution. With a blow-through system, or any wet flow, the intake manifold design seams much more critical. Single planes seem to equal the cylinders more than dual planes.
Anyway, no reason for a novel......
IMO, you will realize no difference between efi and blow-through, unless you intend to run this machine to the limit of competition.
P.S. the carb stuff is easy.
