Blowing Fuses

I noticed that after I installed an after market radio by Custom Autosound my dash lights no longer worked and found the fuse was blown. After replacing the fuse it blew immediately again and again. I used all the original radio connections, power, ground and speakers when installing the new radio and the radio works fine. I disconnected the power and ground from the radio, put in a new fuse and the dash lights work fine again. Has anyone else had a similar problem. If the radio continued to work fine how could it be linked to blowing the dash light fuse?

Somewhere you have a wire crossed. My ken harrision JVC mod did the same thing. There used to be a wire to run the light in the original radio. Do not use this wire. I know in my directions it said you could, but it always blew the damn fuse too. I believe there is a wire that says instrument lights for the radio. I believe you can leave this one off. You also need to remember the older radios did not use as much juice. I believe 7 amps was what my original radio fuse was. The JVC uses a 15 am and a 5 amp fuse and its the bottom of the line.
