Can a large vacuum leak cause water to mix with oil?
I removed my intake because a vacuum connector broke and would not come out.
I found water mixed with oil under the intake, and in my valve cover breather. My radiator and oil dip stack are clean.

Two mounts ago I had my heads reworked and lifters replaced, because the previous owner "NEVER" changed the oil in my 351w based mustang


Do you think the mechanic messed up?

I don't see how it's possible that a vacuum leak could cause coolant and oil to mix.....

A bad head gasket is usually the most likely thing to cause oil and coolant to mix. A tear at the bottom of the intake gaskets around a water port could allow coolant to get into the lifter valley/oil. A catastrophic tear in the timing chain cover gasket could allow coolant to get into the oil pan.

Was it mixed as in a sludge, or was the water/coolant simply on top of the oil? When you removed your lower intake it's possible for coolant to leak out of the jackets into the lifter valley.

it was mixed as a sludge on the under side of the intake.

When you removed your lower intake it's possible for coolant to leak out of the jackets into the lifter valley.

99% chance this is your problem. If you have no water on your dipstick or anywhere else, then it probably just got there when you took the intake off. Wipe it up and re-install IMO.

I also think there is a good chance the coolant is just from removing the lower intake.

I will know soon. The new intake is on but it will only back fire. I think my timing is too far out.
