just blow all the gears in my tranny except 4th...... damn this one only lasted 8 months...... but i did get it used from a juk yard.... they said it came from a 93 gt 5.0.... but how can you tell....... any how should i get another t5 from world class new have this one rebuilt.... or go to a tremmic TKO..... whats envoved if i go to a Tremmic TKO...

dang man.........i beat the piss outta my t-5 never had a problem with it.........you must be driving it harder than me.......you need to look into TREMEC your gonna spend more money re-placeing the t-5's then just biteing the bullet and geting a tremec......thats what im gonna do when i blow mine when the new motor goes in.

You blew the input shaft...prob tookt he countergear with it.

You are looking at a major rebuild with that trans. Only way it would be worth it is if you get some good used parts cheap and can do the labor yourself

whatsis needed to do the tremec conversion. just the new bell housing or do i have to get anything else like a new drive shaft......... this is me second t5...... blah. but this one came from a junk yard and i think they sold me a bum tranny, because it wasn't long befoe i got it in that 2nd gear started to come out on down shifts....... thinking of just getting a good rebiuld t5... unless i can do the tremec for around the same price, but ive seen there more $ right off the bat....
got a month before i can get the $ to do this so it's the good old f-150... for a while....

Yup, my T-5 looked just like that pic, the input to counter shaft gear set demoloshied.

Tremec no longer makes the 3550 and the TKO, it's now the TKO500 and TKO600. The TKO500 has either the stock style 10 spline input shaft or the 26 spline, with gearing similar to the T-5. First gear and second gear arn't as far apart, but similar. The TKO600 only comes with the 26 spline input shaft and comes with a higher first gear. The first gear in the T-5 is 3.35, the TKO500 is 3.27 and the TKO600 it is 2.95. The TKO500 and TKO600 are otherwise just as strong, but the 500 can only hold about 575 TQ with the 10 spline input shaft. I have the TKO500, way better than the old T-5, and I have the 10 spline input shaft. I had just got a clutch and didn't want to replace it, plus I want the weak point to be the spines of the clutch disc if anywhere, I want it to break there, easy fix compared to the internals.

Maby you would like to look into the G-force T-5, same casing but stronger newer guts that will take about the same as the Tremec. One thing I like about the new tremec is I can tell it is a modern tranny.

My T5 held my H/C/I 300rwhp motor fine even with beating the almighty donkey piss out of it. Just don't powershift. There's guys running 10's with T5's and standard gearsets, it's all in how careful you are.

I've broken shift forks, chewed teeth straight off of 3rd gear, and broke probably almost 5 sets of keys now...all because either the shift stops were set wrong, or I was powershifting.

So far, with 15psi, no powershifting, and the shift stops set just enough to fully engage the slider onto the dog teeth...it's doing fine (knock on wood). When I start sheering teeth off It'll be time for the T56. :D
