body kit prices and help for dual exhaust

I own an '04 v6 mustang and plan on putting dual exhaust on it soon, hopefully within the month. My only problem is that I know NOTHING about cars and what I need to buy. I want exhaust that will look and sound exactly like a GT mustang or a Cobra. If anyone could tell me what that would be(what I need to buy exactly) and some prices for that, including installation, and I can't do it myself, I'm not handy, that would be very much needed.

Also since the back bumper will not accomidate the two pipes I plan on buying a body kit, and I was wondering how much it would cost to take it to a shop and paint and install it, and I can't put it on myself because once again, I am not handy.

Anyone's input would be great. THANKS a lot

Your V6 is never going to sound like a GT or Cobra unless of course you either buy one or drop in an engine from a totalled GT or Cobra into your V6. Once you have that mindset, you can now proceed on making your exhaust system good. Basically its just how much you really want to spend and if you want to stay emmission legal. You can go the cheap route and install a GT Takeoff system which will prolly cost around $100 to $300. Sometimes you can find people who are looking for someone to take thier GT Takeoffs away and you can get it for free. But you can go all out if you have the cash and install new headers, custom x or h pipe, high flow cats, mufflers from Bassani, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc and tips.

As for the Body Kits, its a huge toss up on where you go. You can look at spending anywhere from $500 to $1500+ on body kit installs and paint. It just depends on the kit, the shop you buy it from, the installer and painter. Hope that helps somewhat. Good luck on the Muffler. Do a search on the forums for exhaust and you will find a lot of good threads discussing this subject.

As for my exit pipes, I just ran mine under the bumper. Some people dump it out of sight inside the rear bumper. And yes, some people install a custom bumper, modify the existing or replace with a GT bumper.

Like Chingy said, you won't get it to sound like a GT, and especially not like a Cobra.

That's LsRedy2Kstang's V6 which just plain sounds BADASS, even with the stock headers.

He has the Mac catted H pipe (I'm assuming he cut the stock cats off, and had the H pipe welded to the stock headers), and the Mac catback system (not the true-fit Y-pipe version).

Hold on a minute, here's my setup, but its not on the car, but should give a pretty darn good roar, to be equal to any good V8 out there:

Mac Longtube Headers
Mac H-pipe with NO CATS (Make sure its legal in your state)
Magnaflow Magnapack Stainless exhaust
Pony Express Mil Eliminators (to turn off the check engine light cause of having no cats)

Total: $850

The bumper: Well the V6 bumper and the GT bumper are one and the same, the GT bumper is only got 2 extra cutouts, and with some patience, and a razor knife, you can make a GT bumper.

If you still don't want to do that, the best route to go would be the Cervinni Stalker body kit, it costs $1500 for the kit, plus you know probably $500 for paint and installation, but looks the best on our mustangs, and is made from urethane. The exhaust install can probably be done for a couple hundred, but if you go without cats, you gotta find a shop that'll do the install because cutting cats is illegal, and you can be fined $3000, and the shop is fined $2500 (In Michigan)

But if you go with my same setup, you'll be doing good, just make sure you get the GT exhaust, not the v6 version cause it'll be based off the Y-pipe which is junk.

ok well, 850 is a little much right now for exhaust, and i dont have great connections with ppl that might have to do somethign illegal, so I think ill go with what the others have said, and pony, about how much do u think that will cost me?

Let's just get it on and installed before making announcements that its going to be "equal" to any V8 out there. Any V6 engine can produce quite a roar by just removing the exhaust system completely. But no matter what you install, unless its a V8, its never going to equal to a V8. It might be as loud as one, but not equal.

Please post a movie after you get your install, I am dying to hear what $850 of your exhaust setup sounds like.

ok now lets get this outa the way, i understand that i cant make it sound completly like a v8 without the engine, but remember the question, i want an exhaust that will sound good, ok so no more bickering, who cares if he has a v30 mustang and it sounds like a ricer, i jus want some info on some exhaust that will sound cool, like the one on the clip above, and wont cost me 850...mmk thanks
