I just picked up an 88 5.0 cheap (very cheap) anyhow, other than a very rusty rear fender, it's in great shape overall.

Normally, I'd go to a wrecker and find a replacement, but as you know, the rear fenders on these cars, along with the roof, are all one piece, so I can't exactly just unbolt a rear quarter. And I can't exactly bring the my panel cutter with to cut off the panel.

So my question is, where can I buy a rear quarter patch panel? I've done a little googling and can't seem to find a place.

I think you might have to make your own or find another (smashed) one and cut it off there. You can find a smashed 4 cyl for like $100 or less im sure. Thats what I would do.

I'd rather just buy a panel and weld it in...I would think as popular as these cars are, somebody would make and sell them.

Well this is what I have to fix...

Someone suggested using a front fender (since I can get them from wreckers easily and very cheap) and cutting a patch from it, they seemed to think that the curves would be the same, or close enough.

Does anybody have any measurements on this, or know if it would work. This is the only spot on the car that is going to be hard to fix.

The hatch and passenger side will be simple.

Other than those few spots, the car is good.

Yes, I'll get rid of the mudflaps and foglights! They were there when I bought it.

I will bump this back to the top for you. I need the same 1/4 panel! They used to have them at www.50resto.com , but they don't list them in there new catalogs. Might be worth giving them a call. Let me know what you find and I will do the same if I track down a place that sells them.

I'm in the same boat. My quarters look the same. Let me know what you come up with. I'd prefer new panels as well.

There are a number of places for the patch panels or fenders. Try Sherman Associates. Check the small ads in the back of MM&FF, etc. Several companies sell crash repair parts for these. JC Whitney, Year One, Laurel Mountain, etc. Or call one of the Mustang salvage places, like Rusty Acres, Dugan, etc, who also adverstise in the magazines. The normal route for what you have is to just order one from a salvage yard. They do this regularly, and can cut them off to suit the repair you need.

So did you guys have to make your own or did you find a vendor? I wished somebody made them in stainless steel that would be sweet.

I got a little cancer on my rear 1/4. I heard replacement with new metal is best.

Does anybody know what guage metal is used from the factory for our cars?
