I have a 1985 ranger pickup was a 4cyl. standard, now 5.0 aod 1987. my prob. is it boggs at 2500 rpms then runs super i have new fuel 45psi the pump it is located in front filter on frame below lassanger side door , no pump in tank. tank is a stock 85 ranger tank. can anyone help me. lrmccoy

It's your fuel pump. The stock Ranger pump does not have enough volume for the 5.0. Pressure yes, but not volume. Under a load it's leaning out and as the RPM's rise the load evens out requiring less volume.

shamus i have a 45lb in line for mustang pump on truck u think the fuel pump is to far away from the tank and on the wrong side of the filter. ray mccoy .

If i remember right the 85 rangers have to filters. On the f-150 (EFI) the pump is in the middle of the two filters.On a stock 5.0 the pressure only needs to be around 39 psi.
