Even though mustang auto got 5sp vs TA's 4, I would say TA would win but not by much. TA is lighter and got more whp.

Where's the driver's race?? Both automatics. Both begin from rolling. You either floor the gas or not. I don't see any other variable in drivers.
Besides the gas pedal and keeping the wheel straight, what else you can do? Apply the hand brake?

I would assume something like reaction time. Since I doubt both drivers are capable of flooring it at the EXACT same time.

I think flooring at exactly the same time is not so important. What is more important is gaining /loosing speed compared with the car you racing.
Personally, I like give my oponent a slight head start, so when I pass him(her?) there is no doubt I won.
To me passing the car I'm racing is the most important and the most fun. That's why I love racing 4WD cars: They get of the line quicker but I pass them later. (some I don't like STI's)
