I'm gettin' ready to buy a 65 coupe that was an original 6 cyl car and I was wondering if an 8.8 has the same 4 bolt pattern as the 6 3/4 rear that's in the car. I'd rather just swap rear ends than switching to a 9in. and then having to convert the front end to 5 bolt as well. I'm a fox body guy and I KNOW that a 4 bolt can handle quite a bit of power, I was just curious since I'm venturing into unfamiliar territory what to expect. Any input would be great.

Thanks,
Dustin

Get a 5 bolt 8.8 out of an explorer or something instead, much easier, and more wheel choices that way.

I'm not worried about the wheel choices, I've got a set of Welds and Centerlines already from my foxbody's that would LOVE to see the 65, I just want to know how big of a pain it is gonna be to have a rear end cut to fit under this coupe.

Thanks again,
Dustin

the early mustang rear end is 57.25" flange to flange. the fox body one is wider, iirc by 2 inches. i'm not sure on the bolt patern though.

Soooo......... from what it sounds like I'm SOL on a fox body rear end unless I have one cut, which isn't really what I wanna do, what cars have the same flange measurment?
