i am getting my engine my rebuilt tomorrow.....i will have full exhaust and typhoon upper/lower intake manifolds...so i assume another 40hp from those two? so 265 flywheel, maybe? prolly a little lower....so anyways i was wondering how much boost is to much? (what can the stock heads handle? what about air flow with stock heads?) I would like to run upwards of 10+ PSI, i am getting the heads bolted down with ARP bolts cause my mechanic (also a 5.0 owner) said to do that if im running lots of boost...can i run 15 psi? i'm looking for around 350-400RWHP.....9 psi will give me roughly half....so thats 390 flywheel hp....so another 6, should be around 350rwhp? and by the way i know i will need new injectors, fuel pump, blah blah, is this achievable on a stock bottom end? oh yeah and i am doing other stuff to suspension and chasis and stuff to be able to actually have grip on the streets and not mess anything else up...thx for your input, anyone would help.....i guess my main problem is i dont know if the boost will be limited by the flow of the heads or whether it even matters if i can get fuel in there too. thanks for all your help guys!

Wow... that's a mouthfull. So maybe your heads aren't the greatest. If you're lookinf for maximum horse power and have the means to change them then do it. It's a no brainer. If you're limited by budget then keep the heads you have and supercharge it. Worry about heads later. Keep in mind that 450 FW HP on a stock block is the safe limit. I'm sure you're also aware that the kind of boost required to run 450FWHP over all of those stock components is going to probably take you out of pump gas range. So now you're going to be mixing octane juice into your already expensive gasoline in order to over extend your engine and possibly break something. I should note however that 87boostedgt just dynoed around 325 RWHP with 8 lbs of boost to an otherwise stock motor with a Vortech and no aftercooler. Pretty damned impressive if you ask me. That's on all stock internals and heads. He's not done yet either. He's had some fall off at the top end, probably due to his fuel pump not being up to the task. Get with him, he's still working out an issue or two but seems to be on the right track and probably help you with yours too. :)

Edit: Fiveliter87gt is the name of the guy mentioned above. Drop him a line.
