I am a complete newb to mustangs.

In fact, I don't own one yet, but I plan to have one within a week or two.

I was wondering if it was possible to use a Kenne Bell super charger on stock internals with a 4.6?

I searched around but did not find the answers I was looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

yes you can run a kb on a stock 4.6 no problem. the rule of thumb is not to exceed 450rwhp. after that the rods become questionable.

What kind of stang are you looking at? If your looking at gt's go with a 99-04. they come with more hp then the 96-98 due to better heads.

you might want to look into tork tech superchargers. there kits are priced better then kb and should yeild the same results. here is a link to a thread about them http://forums.stangnet.com/749815-tork-tech-supercharger.html I highly suggest that you look into them if your set on a twin screw/roots style blower

+1 on the above. 400-450 is the acceptable limit to the stock internals(crank, rods, and pistons) w/ a good tune. Some have pushed it farther and some have gone w/ less. The KB should be fine on it as long as you follow the manufacturer recommendations.

Do it and you won't regret the boost. Just stay around 400rwhp for the ultra conservative people like me.

WOW!!

That is impressive!! Not like the Honda's I used to adore!!

Yes, I am looking for a 99-04 GT, 5 speed is a must.

I aim to make no less than 375 with intake, exhaust and supercharger. (Not at all un-attainable if I manage my money well)

Thank you all very much for the information, as well as the links. I think I'll be sticking around this forum for a while!

It really depends on the condition of the engine, mileage etc. I personally watched a 4.6L pop the rods out at 437 rwhp on a Mustang dyno. Mustang dyno's are loading dyno's so they normally read lower then a dynojet dyno, so you really need to know what every one else is basing their HP levels at. Most shops i know, JMS, PHP, etc. like about 390-400 before they get REAL nervous. Call around to some of the high performance shops, and ask. They do hundreds of them, so they will know the answer based on experience with more than just one car.

Boost is pretty subjective. A car with non-PI heads may make 12 pounds. Put PI heads on the same engine and boost will drop. Less back pressure. The easier the air flow goes through the engine, the less the boost pressure. Measure power at the tires.

I'm in NC as well. Have you ever heard of Haywood Custom Speed? Had them install and tune a vortech kit on my car a couple years back to about 370hp and I spun a bearing after three months. Car had under 30,000 miles.

Yeah I will never take my car to Randy again. The day I picked my car up after the install the car was detonating on the way home. I mean how damn hard is it to tune a stock a mustang with a straight forward bolt on vortech kit?

Anyways, do you know a mechanic that I believe works at Fastlane now named Ray. He worked at Haywoods when I was getting my work done but he is a great mechanic and a great guy.

OP sorry to hi-jack your thread.

I have seen twin turbo Cobra's lay down 875+ on a stock motor. Check this link Seth's Twin Turbo Cobra made 874 rwhp!!! - Heart of Carolina Mustang Club

However the rule of thumb most people go by is to keep the HP under 450.

NOOOOOOOO! lol

I've had a few cars actually.

I started with a 1990 Honda Accord:

Then a 2001 Chrysler Sebring 5 speed (The manual trans was quite rare):

Then a 1983 Camaro project:

Then a 2003 Dakota Stampede: (Not a recent photo, now has windows tinted, K&N intake, and a sound system that will make your face itch!)

And my 1990 Ford Ranger which is now for sale.
