My s-trim came w/a msd box w/the boost ret, and I already have a crane hi-6 system on my car. I don't really like msd (had some friends that ran into problems) and was wanting to use my crane, I thought all that was necessarry was an additional part (I think the timing retard control) but summit said I need the TRC and a map sensor. I haven't even started on the ignition install yet (just got done punching the whole and getting the t-rex hooked up), but does the msd come w/both a TRC and a map sensor???, and also are both required if I want to use the HI-6?? The reason why I'm asking is because they want to charge 118.00 for the TRC and another 50 for the map sensor, if thats the case, I may just use the msd that came w/the kit,

Thanks,

So they are saying you need those with the S-trim, or with that ignition?
I ran a S-trim and a BTM for years..you dont need that **** they told u...map sensor is GM.

Yeah, there saying that if I want a boost ret capability w/my crane hi-6, I would need the timing ret control (trc), and the map sensor to get it to work. I briefly looked at the msd setup sent w/the s-trim kit, and I didn't really see a map sensor?? I saw a knob w/a degree amt to ret the timing, (I'm assuming that was the msd trc). If I have to spend 160 just to get my crane working, may look into using the msd that came w/it.

So all I need is the trc and not the map sensor??? ,

The msd kit will work as is, but what you should do is ditch that and get a custum chip burned.
For now hook the msd btm up for safety, everything you need comes with the kit.

i got one here for ya, i had the crane kit on my 95 cobra, it was the kit from summit that comes with the coil and the box and the plug in connectors and ****, anyway i got the vortech kit and didn't use the msd btm box,my tuner said when he reflashes the chip for the blower they will set up all the timing tables and i wont need the msd btm kit,the crane box would be fine. so i get the car there and on the dyno they told me the igniton was breaking up and they ended jury rigging an msd 6al in to see if it cleared up, which it did, so the msd 6al has been in my car ever since. the msd btm from the vortech kit i ended up selling for $250 to some guy in down in the islands, i forget which one, but some tropical place.

I am going to either get a tune or try messing around w/a tweecer, but I spent all of my money on the s-trim, so I don't really have the money right now.

eades: I don't really use the IM, because of work, but if you had any add info, please email me dstanggt50@yahoo.com

95cobra: So you just got it tuned and used a standard ign box w/out the the boost ret hooked up??
