how many of you guys are running it with stock powersterring pump??
how do you like the overall performance of this kit??
does it still have a dead spot in the middle? thanks

It has a new car feel to it and what I had not expected but am really pleased with is my ability to go faster in tighter spots such as pulling into the driveway. Corrections are so much faster as the car doesnt have to moving to steer it. It may be the best mod to date and I dont have any negatives to report.

I say go for it and try it out. If its terrible with the stock pump, which I doubt, you can always swap to the Fox pump with only a small amount of trouble. I think all you need to do is swap the pully, there might be some bracketry work involved but it wouldn't be hard at all. The stock pump and the Fox pump aren't terribly different.

Personally I'm not a fan of the rack and pinion setups in these cars due to the turning radius issue that every kit I've seen has had. Some are better then others but why sacrifice any turning radius at all when you can just get an integral box ? The only other thing I can think of is if you are running a turbo or large headers and the rack will give you the little extra room you need.

im kinda worried about clearance where the box sits on the frame. My header is currently against my steering box side. Ive put a small dent into to the header to make it work, but when the cars running and cold you can kinda feel it in the column. When you guys bought the box, did the box look any thicker compared to the orginal box? where it goes down along the frame rail? Turning radius isnt really my concern since i have 17's and no turning radius now. But i really like the design of this setup.

Have you spoke to Gill at Borgeson? He was a straight shooter when I ordered mine so I think if they have an issue with the stock pump or header clearance he would tell you. I have jobber pricing so if you want me to call him email me at [email protected] with your specifics and I will see what his opinion is but If you call him as a prospective customer he will be able to give you the correct part numbers for each part needed.

I'm not sure about the size of the box as compared to the stock unit but if that kind of clearance is an issue then perhaps you should search for previous R&P threads to get an idea and then start a new thread about R&P kits to get help on that. People wont be thinking about R&P when they click on this thread.

Im just in the shopping stage right now. Dont plan on ordering it for a month or so. If the box is smaller or the same size then it would fit perfect. I will give them a call when im a little closer to ordering. thanks for the help guys.. i wanted some feed back on how it felt as well. The dimension i will have to call them for.

Hey shakin66, i was reading what you have into ur car and was wondering if you have aftermarket engine block. Seems like alot for stock 302 block? Have you ever taken it to the track or dyno?

Its a 99' Explorer block and the rotating assembly is balanced so Im good for now. There are some guys on here that put out a lot more HP using a stock block. I am not interested in taking to the strip but may someday do a dyno to fine tune the timing and air/fuel ratio. I really have no idea what numbers its laying down...

my engine bay.. ive been looking at low compression 347's thats why im curious. People say its a waste since you will be maxed on hp.

HP doesn't matter so much, toque and traction matter. A properly setup suspension with good tires will beat a car with more HP because it will grip and launch properly instead of spiting the power all over the road an not going anywhere.

ive got mine finally stickin to the ground at the track, kinda scared to launch it REAL hard. Most ive launched at was 4k and it bogged. Im heading out there wed for a higher launch. Ive been kinda using baby steps for launching harder. Mine is a little 302 with 10lbs of boost.

It's a demon blow thru carb and I'm shocked that it runs so clean. I have all the eq. to install f/I but it's too fun to change right now. I have a question for you though...how did you handle the supercharger's intake? I am stuck trying to find a 4" 90 degree elbow that is flattened out..if that makes any sense. Yours sounds like a ball too.
