Borgeson with Serpentine

I was hoping someone here could help me with my Borgeson power steering conversion. The issue I am having is that I am using a serpentine 6-groove belt set-up and can't find the correct power steering pulley for the Borgeson pump. Has anyone done this conversion with a serpentine set-up? I have called both Borgeson and March Performance and they have directed me to call each other. Any help would be appreciated.

I would look into bagging the Borgeson/GM pump and using a pump from a Fox Mustang or other later model Ford set up for serpentine. If I recall correctly, the low pressure at low engine speeds issue is with the earlier Ford pumps and not with the ones designed for use with rack & pinion. Mounting and alignment/belt routing should be a piece of cake. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I feel your pain. I just went through this with Borgeson and March on my 65 coupe, v8, no A/C, dual M/C w/disk brakes. I am currently working overseas until the end of August and don't have access to my receipts from March right now, so no part number on the pulley. March does make the serpentine pulley(s). You need a "press-fit" NOT the "keyed". I got two different answers from Borgeson from two different folks there regarding their Saginaw pump vice a newer Mustang power steering pump. After they sent me a "keyed" style pump and to the wrong address, I was able to obtain a decent newer Mustang steering pump that had the "Press-on" style shaft to accept the March serpentine pulley. The March pulleys are awesome. The Borgeson directions and illustrations leave a lot to be desired. About 6 1/2" had to be taken off the column to fit. They imply about 1-2" is all you might need to take off. Be it so, take a lot of measurements, and you might want to cut small pieces at a time, if you HAVE TO cut to shorten the column. I opted for the stainless steel braided hose. The fittings were definitely not ss, or steel and were broken in half and appeared to be aluminum. I found ss fittings at a specialty outfit. All this horsing around took a month between getting the parts to my correct address, new hoses and fittings from somewhere else and figuring the measurements. I've yet to drive it!. However, my mechanic says the new steering box is sweet and there's no play with the steering wheel while driving. I'll see if I have a copy of my receipt buried in one my disk drives. IB33, first I like to say nice 66 there! Installing March serpentine pulleys and belts really will make your engine compartment stand out. I have a 65 coupe, v8, 302, and added power steering (once again after a I6 to v8 conversion). I chose the March kit part # 30165. It uses two serpentine belts. A crankshaft pulley, 3 to 4 bolt adapter for it, alternator and fan pulley, water pump and power steering pulleys. The pulleys are made of 6061 T-6 aircraft aluminum with powder coated enamel. Just use a dust cloth to clean. The pulleys are 6 rib. If you choose to add A/C or have A/C, this is not the right kit. With A/C, you would have to get a reverse water pump and extra brackets, different kit. You can download their PDF format catalog and study all the kits you can choose from. You may need spacers, I found stainless steel ones at a nuts and bolt specialty shop. The kits come with good directions and schematics. The Borgeson steering pump was the "bear" for the March pulley. I'm good to go now.

You talking to me, your talking to me Jetset?..LOL I am overseas until September, if you can wait that long for some pics. But I can tell you, my engine compartment sucked before with the old pulleys and crap radiator shroud and rusted out bolts/fasteners, etc. I went to a lot of car shows, got some awards, and really have to ask why? I didn't deserve them. I go for the fun and looking around anyway. So, a retired pro-race/funny car builder worked on my ride. We replaced all nuts and bolts with stainless steel ARP, Automotive Racing Products, and what a difference. On top of that the March Serpentine pulleys, power coated enamel, no rusting or crude build up. You see I'm not married, so I can do anything I want, i.e. spend money and time my on my High School car. And I have to say it really looks good, or objectively, looks better after 280,000 miles on it. Maybe I can get my mechanic to get his neighbor to take some pics and send them to me. I'll have to wait until next week. What is driving you crazy about your car right now?

Been a long time but finally got the Borgeson kit installed. Solved the issue with the serpentine pulley and even though I never got the correct one from March I did manage to get the correct one from Summit Racing...a Billet Specialties pulley. Looks good and I love the way the car feels now. For those that need it in the future and run the Borgeson with a 6-groove serpentine setup, the part # of the pulley I used from Summit Racing is BSP-FM1035PC
