with tax money coming in a few months I am thinking about building a new block for my '87 mustang lx with 125 shot nitrous. I wanted to go with a 383 bore with a 3.750 engine stroke and 6.250 rod length. What are some good places to order a complete engine kit with everything, the crankshft, pistons, rods. I order most of my parts from summit. I need a place to send my engine to get bored. Do you know of any good places to send it to get bored to a 383? I live in louisiana so any place close to here would be good. I cant find any places that bore out engines down here. please help! thanks

i believe the most you can go on a 302 is 349. you need a 351 to get to a 393(383 is a chevy stroker and a dodge motor.)

347 is about the max for a 302 block.

If you want more, you'll have to start with a 351 block and bore it to a 393

boring to a 347

alright so I can't go to a 383. If I want to go to a 347 on my 302, do you know of any engine shops down south that can bore my 302 to a 347 and port my TFS intake and heads?

with a 60 overbore on a 302 you can go a lil bigger then 347, i think it equates to 349 but most people are afraid of 60 over on a stock block. i have a 60 over 302 with no problems.

my 302 is a 350 stroker kit from lunati. And you can go bigger that 350 on the 302's now also.
