My daily driver (1991 GT) has 260k miles on her. I've been chasing a light miss and occasional rough stumble for years. I figure it's probably time to replace the injectors while hopefully taking care of those issues.

Car is stock so I'm sticking with the 19#. Found a Bosch set on lmr for $184 and they are listed as the Type III. (Which if I read correctly is the same as the 97 explorer injectors, right? )I also found a Bosch set listed at fiveomotorsports for $440. As far as I can tell the only difference is the expensive set is listed as new, while the cheaper is rebuilt.

I'm mostly looking to refresh parts with reliable replacements. I'd rather pay more for a durable part than replace a cheap part every few years. That being said the price difference seems high for new vs rebuilt. Am I missing something here?

Check ebay. There are several people that rebuild factory injectors and that could save you some $.

That many miles and only guessing about the miss, I would check the timing chain, the 5.0 chain is very durable but nothing last forever, you can check it by turning the engine by hand back and forth and watch the rotor, it should have just a tiny, tiny bit of play, if you mark the balancer so you can see the degree marks and note how many degrees of play you have. Also with that many miles check play at the distributor.
Now some questions:
Check for codes
Recent tune up
I like the rebuild of the injectors idea.

I have the original 19's with 50k miles. Never thought anyone would want them. $100/shipped.
The LMR 19's are re-manufactured skinny body; OEM's were fat body Bosch.

I bought used 19lb injectors on ebay for $80. I also bought a new screen and oring kit and rebuilt them including cleaning by energizing them and running solvent through. First ran simple green through them then rinsed by running brake cleaner through. They're on the vert now and they work great.

I had the 19lb injectors from my 92 but my son used them on his 4.0 Jeep Cherokee. They worked great on the jeep.
