I'd say way over $15K, maybe over $25K. The cars are at $100K, and the motor (plus the VIN) is the only reason for that. That assumes it is complete and runs of course.

There is an NOS block on ebay for $3000 and a NOS crank for $1300. Add another $5k for heads and a couple grand for pistons/rods and you have a lot of money just for a short block. Then there is the intake, carb, waterpump, oil pan, valve covers, well the list goes on and are very hard to come by especially if you are trying to piece one together. $20k is my guestimate. Cobrajet motors run around $10k but are easier to come by. It'd be nice if you had the transmission to boot!

I guess you saw the Boss block on eBay too...the one that was rebuilt then the cam went flat. I would only pay $10K for that one if that is all thats wrong with it. Aside from the parts availability and finding the right person to rebuild it correctly, what car will it go in? Unless you put it in a real 429 rolling chassis car, to me it's not a good choice in any other Mustang.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. When it comes to EbayMotors auctions, look at the final selling or bid price, the starting & reserve price is just what the seller wants for it, not it's actual value.

Not a Boss 429. That price is for a run of the mill 429. The Boss is a whole 'nother animal. Do a little research on the 'net for Boss 429...

And just because they list it, doesn't mean they actually have them available.

Having just gone through this recently, it costs about $40K - fan to flywheel and oil pan to air cleaner

For a low performance daily-driver car those long blocks from Advance are pretty tempting. Stick a Holley 2V with an intake and a set of headers on em and they should last many miles. I'd expect over 100rwhp too, maybe if you get a really good one up to 150.

So $40K for a perfect Boss9 motor....I'll have to mention that to the wife...I only have $25K into my whole car.....oh wait....that still means I'm upside down....and the Boss9 owner isn't...hmmmmm....nevermind telling the wife...

I don't know how many 289 hi-po's I've seen for sale. I'm sure that they're all real hi-po's. Yeah, right and I'll sell you the Golden Gate Bridge.

Toll for the bridge is $25.00 one way. Round trip is a bargain at $75.00. Anybody interested can let me know when they want to cross and I'll give my address so you can send the money. Cash only. I don't have to be present when you cross because I use the honor system.
