http://ask.autoblog.com/2006/10/31/the-return-of-the-ford-boss-302/

Like the original Boss 302 that was engineered for Trans Am racing, the new BOSS 302 features trickle down performance from racing in the American Speed Association (ASA) Late Model circle track series. A sealed circle track version of a 347 cubic inch BOSS engine will be available both for ASA and NASCAR circle track racers in time for the 2007 season.

Debuting in four SEMA display vehicles, four premier car builders placed the new BOSS 302 in their 2006 show vehicles. All the builders chose to use a 302 cubic inch engine, staying true to the original namesake.

i am getting sick about this. i know there is indication that it will be ohc in the final version, but what if it isn't.

i have to live with my choices. i like the exotic nature of multi valve ohc motors. chevy and chrysler have made it harder for ford to ignore the advantages of 300cfm pushrod heads. compact size, light weight and with variable displacement taking hold i am sure it is tough to ignore.

i have converted the wiring if an EEC-IV to carbs and no computer in the past, and i guess i can do it again.

i guess i'll wait for the tubular K-member for a while, just in case i have to switch to another platform. it kills me to think of it. low tech power sucks.

but it is power none the less.

there will be a pushrod 302 crate motor but the production motors will be OHC. I dont see ford going back to pushrods for production cars.

it means i really hope ford IS making OHC not pushrod.

this stuff is scaring me that's all. they are releasing too little info. right now it's a crate as reported in here.

OHC= overhead cam. The cam rotates and the lobe on the cam pushs open the valves that let air and fuel in, and exhuast out. pushrod means there is a single cam (OHC has 2/4) in the middle of the block pushing rods that open these valves. Basically OHC is a better and newer design but makes the engine taller and kinda bigger in a way, GM still uses push rods in their 350 (or 5.7L) block in their vettes with much sucsess.

you can count on me dropping this motor in the shed if a 6.2-7 litre BOSS fits in our cars.

it will join:

1. set 1968 302 4v small chamber heads with 3/8" screw in studs 1.95/1.5 valves
2. a 1987 302 HO roller motor
3. 1991 8.8 diff with 3.73 (30,000miles)
4. ported PI heads/cams
5. 1993 4.6 4v with 90,000 miles
6. etc etc etc.

considering the projected output of 425hp/425tq of the 6.2l i have no choice.

it will be after i reach my HP goals with this one.

i have always preached displacement in here. we are on the threshhold of getting it if it fits.

can it be larger than a 5.4 3v? i hope not.
