k, im gonna need some info to get this thing to work right. first off my compression is around 9.2:1 so i know im going to have retard my timing. should i retard my cam? i have a timing chain thats adjustable up to 8* advance or retard. should i do it that way? i know im only going to be able to run like 6-8 PSI along with like 100 octane all the time on the hyper pistons. and what kind of fuelk pressure should i be running to the carb? i have a holley blue fuel pump with a regulator, its good for up to 14 PSI

basically give me a run down of what i need to do to run this safely.

You will not need to run 100 Octane with that compression at those pressures. You WILL need to be able to get a good look at your AFR when you're tuning it.

Leave your cam alone and set your timing at 10* initial.

I'm no help whatsoever on the carb side of the equation other than to tell you that you need to be jetted so that you stay richer than 12.5:1 any time you're in boost.

Your tune will determine whether or not you kill those pistons. It may be helpful to know that the discharge temps coming from that roots blower will typically be lower than what you would get from a centrifugal running the same pressures with no intercooler.

I can't wait to see this thing installed and running. Should be a torque monster!

I can't offer any tech help, but I just wanted to say that's an awesome blower setup. I wanted to put one like that on my '66 for a long time. A friend of a friend recently put one on a 302 in his '68 stang, and I hear the torque is incredible. Lots of boost right off idle, not like a centrifugal.

You might find some help on www.superchargerhelp.com.

Make sure to post pics when you are done!

Do you have a big cowl scoop, or is it going to be through the hood?

thanks, any idea on fuel pressure/volume?

Not from me. I'm MUCH more familiar with EFI setups and associated pressures/volume. I would not know what to recommend for a starting point on a carb even.

Here's a bump for ya.

I'd tell you to sent a PM to Rick91GT but he's so backed up right now that I doubt he'd be able to get to you in a timely manner.

PM him a link to this thread. He's usually on early in the morning and might have a suggestion for you then.

thanks for the link, not sure on the hood yet. i dont really want a cowl maybe cut some of the hood and put a scoop.

bump

edit: the guys on turbomustangs.com told me my pump is trash and to use it as batting practice, and that i will need need something that flows a lot more with higher pressure, but i seriously dont think i need another pump i mean its not a blow thru setup like most of them have and the blower is only going to be around 6 or 7 psi for right now.

I found out the pulley on it is for 5psi. so i think its nice and conservative for my first experience with a supercharger.

man i cant wait for this thing to show up, it looks to be like a 2 hour install
