Bought a new car, now what to do with the '95

No doubt it does everything well, trust me I've driven hundreds of them. I think keeping it is a good thing right now. You've got so much time into it letting it go will be hard. I tried buying mine back that's how bad I missed it. Your kids will miss it too, mine sure did. We stopped going to shows, races and the track. Now we are getting back into it.

It's so sad seeing these threads. I'm glad you decided to keep it for now. I would never sell mine. Too many times hearing my Dad and uncles say "Wish I never would have sold that car." Not to mention 3 people I know sold their modded stangs and they were totaled in less then a month after selling. I couldn't forgive myself for letting her get trashed, let alone someone getting hurt/killed because of it.

Your post looks exactly like my thoughts of the past 10 years and I would have sworn that there would have never been a day that I would have considered selling my '95, but it is funny how things can change when you finally experience something else. I love this vette so much that I seriously want another one to modify SLIGHTLY. A C5 Z with long tubes, x pipe, CAI, and a tune can lay down 420-450rwhp, add a cam and there is even more to be had. In a car that weighs <3180lbs that is a killer combination. I will not be modifying mine as it is great as-is, I am not allowed to modify it in my autocross class, and I don't want another money pit at this time. As soon as my mustang comes off of my lift the vette is getting a trailer hitch installed, lowered, and an alignment done and that will be it for modifications in the forseeable future.

One last thing, the replies about taking the kids in the back seat of the mustang do not apply to me. The roll bar made the back seat useless so my car is effectively a 2 seater. Luckily the vette has an airbag shutoff for the passenger seat and the LATCH system installed. I have already taken my kids out to cruise-ins and such in it. My daughter loves it!

Paul, good to hear you're keeping it. I just read the magazine article. Would have been tougher knowing it's magazine worthy condition too. Congrats on the Vette!

Forgot you had a fairly substantial roll bar setup for the vert.

However, that said it is still far easier to remove the roll bar to make the rear seat accessible if plans change than to add/fab/build a rear seat in a vett.

That is cool that the zo6 has the airbag shutoff and can have a LATCH system installed.

Yesterday was the first day that I have been able to drive the mustang and the z06 in the same day and wow... I came back hating my mustang. Seriously, I forgot how hard it is to drive, shift, etc. Yesterday wasn't a good day to make me want to keep both I can tell you that...

Like others have said, you will most likely regret selling it. I sold my '89 GT from high school, and the buddy I sold it to ended up totalling it within 2 weeks. He parted it out, and its gone forever. Bothers me every time I think about it. Its no vette, but think of all the time and memories you have invested in it. You will look at that car 10 years from now and think of not only it, but your kids and family memories involved with it. What about all the mustang shows with the guys on here that you go to? Maybe Im a sentimental guy, but thats just how I think of my posessions.

Never thought I'd sell my Harley, but I did. Was a pre-empted move to get another, newer Harley. The I rode a Buell Lightning, XB 12s......not really looking for another Harley now.

With what you have into that car, I'd pickle it then put it in the garage. Kids would love it when they got older, of course it may need a de-tune for the high school years....

FWIW I miss the Harley, but haven't looked back. I loved it when I had it, but have moved on to bigger and better things.
