2009 Ninja 250R. I know it's not that fast, but it's my first bike. I like the feel of it better than some of the bigger bikes I tried at the dealer, and it was a lot cheaper. Plus it looks awesome, and 60+mpg ftw!

It is a 2 or 4 stroke....???

Maybe in the distant future Right now I'm still trying to figure out turning

It's a 4 stroke i believe. It definitely sounds like it is anyways.

Turning is wierd to learn... keep your speed down going into the corners til you get some confidence. Ive seen people freak out going too fast while trying to take a corner...they kinda freak out and drive straight..
Practice doing "counter steering" its pushing down on the bar while going into corners.... it'll teach you control too....like if something pops up and you need to steer quickly with contol...
In the direction your turning just take you palm and kinda push down on that bar ...and it kinda turns the bike... weaving the dotted lines is good practice...like take every 2nd one nice and smooth...

Sweet man. The new 250 styling looks nice. The old styling blew. Nice starter bike. I see a 600 in your future by June or so, however.

Nice choice Mike. Being older, I only had 750's and literbikes. At that time, I used to ride around on my bud's faired 125 Honda sportbike and it was a blast! You can have a lot of fun with something that size, and contrary to what macho folks say, it takes awhile to use the bike to it's full potential. I get tired of seeing guys get bigger bikes and use 10% of the bike, while talking up a big storm.

I betcha have a blast with it for a good little while (till you simply desire more bottom-end grunt. That's the only reason I like literbikes - I never tach over 4K. I dont use one fourth of the bike's potential, nor do I want to).


If you haven't taken a MSF course at the local community college, I really recommend it. I think those classes are valuable, even for experienced riders.

Yeah I don't really want something that'll do 150 in 12 seconds or anything like that right now. The 250's run decent and they're supposed to handle turns really well. Some of the articles I was reading online said they were actually quicker on backroads than some of the larger bikes, but that could be mainly because they're easier to ride.

I'll definitely be taking the MSF course this summer. Classes start in June I believe.

Sweet. I had fun on my bike the whole like 3 times i rode it lol. Be careful on it though.
