Bought first classic last night!

Well guys...I now own a 72 Mustang Sprint. It has the 351W, Auto and yes SINGLE exhaust!! I am very excited! We got it started and drove it onto the trailer!! I got it from the original owner and she had all the docs: owners manual... the delivery sheet with a buck tag on it and I think the most cool thing is she bought it from the Ford dealership that I work at!! I didn't know that when I made the deal.....
Anyway... thanks for listening and now the fun gets started!

The elderly lady who I bought if from had been going out and starting it every week or so.

I just ended up putting in a new battery and putting a little gas in the carb and drove it onto the trailer.

I wish I could use that excuse, trouble is, my wife thinks they are just old cars, she only wants NEW ones.
I bought my 97 Vert for her back in 1998, took me 5 years to get it from her. I had brought home an unrestored original 68 Vert that was immaculate, she looked at it and said "That's an old car, you already have one old car, bring home a new one and we will talk about it." So I kept bringing home new ones till I found the right one.

Hey, looks familiar - my father recently purchased a 72 Sprint fastback. It's a pretty solid and original car, needing a repaint and interior resto. Are you sure its a 351W? It should be a 351C (Cleveland) since Ford stopped using the Windsor motor in Mustangs in 1970. My father has tons of information on his car and dealer brochures, etc, as he purchased one new in 72.

I have since found out it is a Cleveland. This also is ALL original...even the single exhaust. This is one I think I am going to fix up and keep. I think it might me a challange to find the blue tape that is used for the strips and I need to find Upholstery for the seats....

The upholstery may be difficult, but the stripes should be available as a package from your larger Mustang Parts suppliers.

Try www.dallasmustang.com, www.texasmustang.com, www.yearone.com,or www.californiamustang.com. If all else fails, www.hemmings.com.

There are plenty others, but these come to mind first. You may need to contact them by phone, but somewhere these are available, and they would know where to look. If the stripes are not produced, before you start any work, go to a vinyl graphics place and let them take measurements, they can make anything you want custom.

You will find parts a little harder to purchase than for a 65/66, you may have to cruise swap meets or hunt up NOS (new old stock), but you will have a unique Mustang many have never seen before! Good Luck with it and be sure to post pics from time to time.
