bouncing speedometer

Ok, well I just fixed my factory tach the guage was dead, but Im not sure about my speedometer. It bounces as Im moving stabilizes about 60mph, I checked the plastic gear on the vehicle speed sensor and it has no teeth missing. Anyone run into this problem, if so what did you try and what fixed it?

I have this problem. So far I have replaced the speedo gear and the speedo cable, not to fix this problem, but because I had to. Basicly, from what I have heard the speedo itself is worn out.

where do u get a new speedo from cuse i have the same problem and was going to replace the cable also, would this be a waste of time?

anytime i had a bouncing speedo all i have done is lube the cable, i have found dipping the cable into a bottle of atf fluid works great

Lubing the cable works if it is dry, but at the mileage my car has my speedo is just worn out. I wouldn't say changing and lubing the cable is a waste of time, its cheaper and it may fix your problem.

cable was well lubed and spun freely, I just replaced my tach should have replaced both of them. How many of you replaced the tach to fix the problem?
